2021 Youth Grant Recipient

We are pleased to announce South Coast Artists' 2021 youth grant recipient Madeline Peach, a student at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Madeline’s proposed project is titled: Understanding and Confronting Historical Ideas of the Body in Painting. The grant funds will allow her to “more deeply explore figurative works throughout history and contemporary art.” She will be conducting research through trips to galleries and major art museums in New York City. It will also provide funds for books, paint and other materials to produce a body of work relating to her research.

The South Coast Artists Memorial Education Fund has been growing since 2014 thanks to generous donations from the community, South Coast Artists members and families contributing to the fund in memory of their loved ones.

In an effort to more fully benefit young artists, the SCA board voted to increase the amount of the annual Youth Grant from $500 to $1,000. In addition we have expanded the grant to include college students up to 21 years of age. This has allowed us to reach a group of young artists who are planning a career in the arts. The benefits of the Youth Grant also include 1 year of free membership in South Coast Artists and the ability to attend meetings, programs, participate in group shows, and the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour. We are hoping this will bring young talent into our group, and expand our ability to reach a diverse audience.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the SCA Memorial Education Fund. With your continued support, we look forward to helping more young artists realize their dreams.
