MEMBERS’ INVITATIONAL
The South Coast Artists Invitational Exhibition is an annual event at various galleries showcasing the range and depth of artwork created by member artists living and working in the South Coast Region of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

All works will be on view and available for purchase during the exhibition period.
The 2026 Members’ Invitational Exhibition will be at Gallery X in New Bedford, MA.
South Coast Artists is celebrating its 23nd year with the Spring Members’ Invitational Exhibit at the prestigious Gallery X in New Bedford, MA.
This spring the exhibit features work from over 60 artists showing 123 original works, and the opening reception takes place at Gallery X Saturday, April 25th from 5-8 p.m. Located at 169 William St, New Bedford, MA, Gallery X is open for viewing Wednesdays – Fridays from 11-4 pm, and Saturdays – Sundays from 12-3 pm.
This diversified exhibit features the artists’ finest works in oil, acrylic, pastel, encaustic, watercolor, metal, clay, wood, mixed media, photography and collage. All of the works will be for sale and awards will be given for the top three works.
2026 Invitational Juror, Catherine Carter
The juror for this exhibition is Catherine Carter, an abstract artist inspired by the rhythmic gestures of calligraphy and the complex patterns in Nature. Catherine has exhibited her paintings, prints and collages at multiple venues, including the Chrysler Museum of Art and the United States Embassies in Oman and Cameroon. Her shows have been reviewed in the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, the Providence Journal, and Art New England. Her artworks are held in a number of public, corporate, hospitality, and private collections, including the Boston Public Library, and the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. She is the recipient of artist grants from the St. Botolph Club Foundation, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and New Bedford Creative.
Awards for outstanding artworks will be presented at 6:00 p.m. during the opening reception on Saturday, April 25th.
The SCA Members’ Invitational Exhibition is supported in part by grants from the Dartmouth Cultural Council and Westport Cultural Council, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. South Coast Artists, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, educates, represents, and supports artists living and working in the coastal towns of Tiverton and Little Compton, RI, and Westport and Dartmouth, MA. Each summer SCA sponsors studio tours and this year the 22nd annual SCA Open Studio Tour takes place on the weekends of July 19-20 and August 16-17. SCA also provides free educational events and grants for emerging artists.
