February Member’s Meeting: Susan Cabral is an award-winning realist painter, working mainly in oil and acrylic. She is inspired by the reflections produced by glassware and metal objects. The different ways light can bounce off an object is fascinating to her.
“Art is creativity of colors and shapes. With every object or scene, there is a mood or feeling: a story just waiting to be told.” Susan observes. “Vases, teapots, rusty hammers, even door knobs are sculptures. Shadow, light and color can all create an illusion of depth and mood.”
Susan’s paintings are can be seen at Norton Gallery in South Dartmouth, and the Louise Gould Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard, as well as in her home studio in Dartmouth. She has taught painting for 35 years. Her goals are to help other artists, and also to create joy through her artwork.
