SCA's Annual Distinguished Speaker Series: Anthony Amore
SCA's Annual Distinguished Speaker Series on November 7th at the New Bedford Whaling Museum with Anthony Amore: an art theft expert, investigator, and security practitioner. Presently, he is Director of Security and Chief Investigator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he is charged with the ongoing efforts to recover thirteen works of art stolen from the museum on March 18, 1990.
In 2011, he co-authored the Wall Street Journal true-crime bestseller Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Stories of Notorious Art Heists. His second book, The Art of the Con: The Most Notorious Fakes, Frauds and Forgeries in the Art World was published in 2015 and was a New York Times Crime Bestseller.
The Rembrandt Heist. A true Crime tale of unbelievable friendship, loyalty,criminal genius, and a staggeringly audacious plot to steal one of the world’s most valuable paintings - and return it. One of Smithsonian Magazine’s Ten Best History Books of 2025.
He will be autographing this book at his talk.
Annual Meeting
Please join us for the 23rd Annual Meeting of South Coast Artists, on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at the Tiverton Public Library in Tiverton, RI. The formal notice of the meeting is available here.
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with our famous potluck dinner, with time to renew friendships and make new ones. The dinner and socializing portion will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m., with the program beginning as usual at 7:00 pm.
The evening will include a look back at the highlights of the past year— lots of stuff! - and a glimpse at the plans and opportunities for the year ahead. We will bid fond farewells to officers who have completed their terms on the Board, introduce this year’s slate of officers, vote, and welcome them into their new positions.
A special highlight of the Annual Meeting will be an inspirational and fun talk by Michael Townsend of the Netflix hit, Secret Mall Apartment and Tape Art fame, with Leah Smith. (Do you remember in the early 2000’s, when a group of artists found an odd space in the Providence Place Mall where they set up an apartment that noone knew about? - Made all the headlines.) Well, they are much more than that now. We would describe them as global art ambassadors and do-gooders for humanity.

Through exhibitions, talks, and workshops, she is deeply committed to helping artists navigate today’s complex and evolving art landscape with clarity and confidence.

Welcome Back Gathering
Join us for our ‘welcome back gathering’! It will be a great time to catch up with each other on how the summer Tours went, and our summers in general for those of us not on the Tours. We will be sharing the results from our Tour surveys, with feedback from both the artists and public, as well as reviewing our upcoming events in 2025.
It’s a great time to regroup and not only to look back, but to prepare for the new season and events SCA will be hosting.

Tour Kickoff Party
Join us for the biggest party of the year! The Open Studio Tour Kickoff party at Weatherlow Farms! All members, their family members, and Sponsors are welcome to attend. Join us to share great food and wonderful company as we celebrate the 22nd Annual Open Studio Tour!
This is a pot-luck style event- please bring a dish to share. Keep in mind that Weatherlow Farms is a zero-waste facility. No single-use plastics are allowed. All food waste (including our composable dinnerware, utensils, cups, and napkins) will be composted. All bottles and cans will be recycled.
While an RSVP is not required (unless you are a registered Tour artist), we would love to know if you plan to attend (and so we can have a name tag made for you!)
All artists are invited to bring a piece of your artwork for our group photo, and to share your work with other member artists.
While this event is required as a Tour artist, we understand that sometimes circumstances change. Please let us know that you will be attending to pick up your Tour bag of marketing materials. If you cannot attend, you must find someone else who will pick it up in your place and deliver the materials to you.
