2026 SCA Members
South Coast Artists welcomed artists, sponsors, family members, and friends to its annual Tour Kickoff Celebration on June 17, 2026, at Weatherlow Farms in Westport, MA. On a beautiful summer evening, approximately 125 guests gathered amid the farm's rolling fields and panoramic views to celebrate the region's thriving arts community and the start of another exciting Tour season.
The annual event offers members an opportunity to connect with fellow artists, welcome new participants, strengthen friendships, and build enthusiasm for the upcoming Open Studio Tours. Samples of members' artwork were displayed throughout the venue, while an abundant selection of food and refreshments was arranged on banquet tables illuminated by twinkling lights, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
"The Tour Kickoff is one of my favorite South Coast Artists traditions because it brings together the people who make this organization so special," said event coordinator and South Coast Artists Vice President Lindsey Epstein. "It's an evening filled with creativity, conversation, and community, and it sets the tone for a wonderful summer season."
This year's featured speaker was Jessica Burko of Boston, Massachusetts, who spoke about the value of creative communities and the importance of supporting artists throughout every stage of their careers. Her remarks encouraged attendees to continue building connections, sharing resources, and embracing opportunities for collaboration.
Burko reflected on the unique role that artist organizations play in fostering both professional growth and personal inspiration. She noted that creative communities thrive when artists support one another, exchange ideas, and remain engaged with the public through events such as the Open Studio Tours.
Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed reconnecting with longtime friends and meeting artists who had recently joined the organization. Many commented on the welcoming atmosphere and the energy generated by gathering with fellow creatives.
"Being surrounded by so many talented and passionate artists is incredibly inspiring," said Volunteer Chair, Lisa Busnengo. "You leave feeling motivated, connected, and excited about what’s new and next."
Another attendee noted, "The sense of community here is remarkable. Whether you're a new member or have been involved for years, everyone feels welcome and valued."
As the evening drew to a close, conversations continued against the backdrop of the setting sun and the scenic Farm Coast landscape. Guests departed energized by renewed friendships, fresh ideas, and a shared commitment to bringing art to the public through the upcoming Tours.
South Coast Artists remains a volunteer-driven organization, and events such as the Tour Kickoff Celebration are made possible through the dedication and generosity of its members, sponsors, and supporters. Their collective efforts help sustain a vibrant arts community that enriches the cultural life of southeastern Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
