2024 Members’ Invitational at Bristol Art Museum

South Coast Artists celebrates its 21st year with the annual SCA Spring Members’ Invitational Exhibition, which is taking place at the prestigious Bristol Art Museum from April 28-May 25.

This spring the exhibit features 148 original works by 71 SCA member artists. The opening reception takes place at the museum on Sunday, May 5th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Located at 10 Wardwell St., Bristol, RI, the museum is open for viewing Thursdays through Sundays from 1-4 p.m. There is a modest admission fee of $5 to the museum.

This diversified exhibit features the artists’ finest works in oil, acrylic, pastel, encaustic, watercolor, metal, clay, wood, mixed media, photography and collage. All of the works will be for sale and information to acquire original artworks is provided at the museum.

The juror for the Invitational is Donna Parsons, who for 20 years was a designer at Providence Picture Frame and for 10 years as curator and director of the Dryden Gallery in Providence. Parsons studied studio art and art history at Rhode Island College and now uses those skills for her own online art business. Awards for the best works in the exhibit will be announced at the opening reception.

South Coast Artists gratefully acknowledges the Board of Directors of Bristol Art Museum for generously welcoming our artists into their beautiful facility. We express a special thank you to Mary Dondero and the team of volunteers who handle the many unseen tasks needed to make the reception and day-to-day operation of the exhibition successful.

The SCA Members’ Invitational Exhibition is presented by Mott & Chace Realty and is sponsored by Cardi’s Furniture & Mattresses. It is supported, in part, through a grant from the Dartmouth Cultural Council and Westport Cultural Council agencies, and the Mass Cultural Council. It is underwritten by a grant from Westport’s Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust and is also made possible, in part, by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

South Coast Artists, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, educates, represents, and supports artists living and working in the coastal towns of Tiverton and Little Compton, RI, and Westport and Dartmouth, MA. Each summer SCA sponsors studio tours and this year the 21st annual SCA Open Studio Tour takes place on the weekends of July 20-21 and August 17-18.  SCA also provides educational events and grants for emerging artists.
