Milton Brightman

Milton is an artist from New Bedford who attended the Swain School of Design in the seventies. He paints with oil paints and watercolors and draws with pen and ink. He draws inspiration from the area in which he lives because he feels that an artist must paint what he loves. He describes his philosophy as the need to see through the eyes of a child, as if seeing everything for the first time. In essence that is the secret. To discover each subject with a sense of awe because once you discover a landscape or whatever your subject may be, you really are seeing it for the first time. Not in the terms of everyday life, but rather as something magical, a revelation; and then, you’re off and running, trying your best to make something of it for others to see as well.
