MY WORK EXPRESSES MY JOY OF PEOPLE, NATURE, AND MOVEMENT.
Lelia Stokes Weinstein
Lelia Stokes Weinstein raised as a Quaker was taught that there was that of good in everyone. In her art she explores themes of joy, hope and peace. As a small child she loved to do art and at 9 was allowed to solo two hours on public transportation to art classes. This experience helped develop an independent and adventurous spirit. She went to Friend’s World College that required study abroad in at least two countries. Living in India and traveling overland to England through Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey she discovered the vibrancy of these cultures and how they embraced color and texture.
She has shown her work in museums and galleries in New England, Chicago, and Germany.
Today she is a mixed media artist often incorporating found materials and encaustic in her works.
