Kitt Shaffer has pursued visual arts since childhood, and minored in drawing/painting in college. She took up ceramics later and recently learned white line printing, furniture painting and collage. She is active in the Southcoast Artists and the Westport Art Group. Her realistic landscapes span her early years in Kansas, her many travels to Italy, China, Greneda in the Caribbean and beyond. Since moving to Westport, most of her landscapes are of scenes from this region, focusing on evocative locations and bright colors in oil, pastel and watercolor. She has also pursued figurative work since college, in oils, pencil and pastel. Her ceramics range from functional to whimsical and sculptural, many on display in her yard in Westport. She has shown extensively in the Boston and New England area. Her pastel "Drawbridge About to Open" won first place at Wet Paint Padanaram in 2023. Her painting "Westport Walls" won honorable mention at the Westport Art Group show "Paint the Town" in 2023. Her radiographic images of flowers were selected for the brochure of the Concerts at the Point series in 2023. Her painting "Tim on the Train" won the People's Choice award in 2025 for the Westport Art Group "About Face Portrait Exhibit". She currently does ceramics at the Rising Tide studio at Hatch Street in New Bedford. She has given several demonstrations of white line printing at Hatch Street Open Studios and in her own studio during Southcoast Open Studios.
