Frank Clegg is the founder and craftsman behind Frank Clegg Leatherworks. After graduating from Babson College, he started the company in 1970 with a simple goal: to make well designed, durable leather goods in the United States. More than fifty years later, the company continues to manufacture domestically, carrying forward a tradition of American craftsmanship that has become increasingly rare.

As both designer and maker, Frank has always focused on quality, function, and longevity rather than trends. Over the years, the company has had the opportunity to collaborate with respected partners such as Hinckley Yachts and Gulfstream Jets. These relationships are built on shared values of precision, performance, and attention to detail.

Outside of leatherwork, Frank spends time in his woodshop turning hollow form vessels on the lathe. He also hand forms sculptural leather faces, exploring shape and expression through traditional techniques. These projects reflect his continued curiosity and enjoyment of working with natural materials.

Whether working in leather or wood, Frank’s approach remains steady and hands on. He values the process as much as the finished piece and believes that good work takes time, patience, and care.
