22nd Annual Open Studio Tour Starts This Weekend!

Whether you plan your route in advance, or simply drive along the picturesque country roads letting the blue signs guide your journey, this weekend’s Open Studio Tour is sure to be a delight. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of it!

Our mobile app is a completely new experience for the 2025 Tour! It’s easily downloaded on your smartphone or tablet. It’s a free app that’s available through the Apple store or on Google Play. With more information on every artist, you can find and save the studios that interest you! The new keypad feature (located at the bottom of the app) will let you enter in a studio number if you want to quickly jump to learn more about a specific artist.

With the app, you can view the artists sorted into different categories (by date or town), find great spots to grab a bite to eat, visit the many galleries that will be open, learn about our sponsors, and even find the closest restroom! The new version works on the web if you’d like to view it on a computer instead. We suggest you take some time this week to view the app before the Tour and plan your adventure!

This digital feature allows you to easily navigate from place to place, from artist to artist and from town to town. Or, if you prefer, you can view or brochure online to find out about all the participating artists and their locations, or pick up a brochure from one of our many sponsor locations. You can also access all of this information, on our website. Whatever method you choose, you are in for a treat!

What do we do once the guide is colored in?

We encourage a parent or guardian to take an image of the completed artwork and email it to us at info@southcoastartists.org. Submissions received by September 1st will be entered in a drawing to receive a free a basket of art supplies!

Upcoming Community Events

Once again, we are excited to cosponsor a portion of the Westport Film Series with the Westport Cultural Council. Admission is free but seats must be reserved (limit of 4 per reservation) starting on July 1 via Eventbrite. The three events in July and August will feature guest speakers and Q&A sessions after the screenings, plenty of socializing, a spectacular setting at Weatherlow Farms beautiful facility offering refreshments, beer and wine. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and films start at 7:00 p.m. for all dates.

Join us on August 13th for a screening of The Wonder and The Worry (98 min), by David Alexander Baker, which follows the lives and work of National Geographic photographers Chris Johns and his daughter, Louise. Chris made some of the most lasting images ever seen before rising through the ranks to become the only photographer to serve as editor in chief of the world renowned magazine.

Mark your calendars for SCA's Annual Distinguished Speaker Series on November 5th at 6:00 p.m.. This year's program will feature Cody Hartley, Directory of the Georgia O’Keeffe Musuem who will present a fascinating program titled Georgia O’Keefe: What her example might teach us about how to live an intentional and creative life at Round the Bend Farm, Dartmouth, MA at 6:00 p.m. More info to come! 

South Coast Artists, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, educates, represents, and supports artists living and working in the coastal towns of Dartmouth and Westport, MA, and Tiverton and Little Compton, RI. Each summer SCA sponsors studio Tours and this year the 22nd annual SCA Open Studio Tour takes place on the weekends of July 19-20 and August 16-17. SCA also delivers each year educational events and grants for emerging artists.
