Welcoming the Tour Season!

Hello Subscriber First Name,

Thank you for attending our Tour Kickoff Party at the picturesque Weatherlow Farms last night! It was a perfect evening celebrating art and our community. We would like to thank the wonderful team of volunteers who worked to make the event a success!

We hope you enjoyed the evening, and are excited for the summer Tour season. As you reflect, remember that community matters. Social media helps a little, but it's not all that social.

As artists trying to get our work out there, and make a living from it, social media is an important tool. Functions like the kickoff party and our monthly gatherings and special events are just as important. We artists tend to work in isolation, and once in a while its good to get out of our caves and meet in person to give us the boost we need even if it’s from just a quick hello or a deep conversation. Community matters.

SCA started out as a community of eleven local artists with a common goal- to once a year open their studios to the public to sell their art. That group of eleven has now grown to a non-profit organization approaching 200, each year, offering a member's invitational, an art contest, two open studio tours, a youth grant, a holiday show, a partridge in a pear tree, events designed to educate the public in the arts, and other special functions. This is only possible with financial and in-kind help from our very much appreciated sponsors and donors, without whom we would not be able to do all we do.

And did we mention, every single part of this is volunteer run? So, if you find yourself saying "They should or they could ..." remember, you. are. they. If you have an idea how to do something better or an idea for a stand alone event or what have you, pitch it to one of the board members. And if you want to get more involved, we always welcome more help!

We hope you continue to create artwork, find inspiration, and along the way, perhaps inspire others as well.
