SCAM ALERT!

Hi South Coast Artists,

It’s come to my attention that someone is using my name but not my email address to send out fake emails that look like they are from me to South Coast Artists members referencing SCA and electronic gift cards and veterans, etc. Please disregard that email and block the sending email address from your contacts.

You can spot a scam email by looking for suspicious links, poor grammar, and requests for personal information. Here are some things to look out for:

Check the sender:

1. Verify the email address: Make sure the sender's name and email address match. 

2. Check the domain: The domain should match the company it claims to represent. 

3. Check for lookalike domains: Scammers often use similar-seeming domains. 

Check the content:

1. Look for urgent requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency. 

2. Check for suspicious links: Hover over links to see where they go. 

3. Check for suspicious attachments: Attachments may contain malware. 

Check for poor grammar:

1. Check for spelling and grammar errors: Misspellings and poor grammar are common in scam emails. 

2. Check for generic greetings: Generic greetings like "Dear sir or madam" are a warning sign. 

3. Check for offers that are too good to be true!

4. Be wary of emails that claim dire consequences: These emails often try to get you to act without thinking. 

5. Be wary of emails that offer rewards: These emails may promise a tax refund or other prize. 

If you suspect a scam:

• Don't click on links or attachments.

• Report the email.

• Contact the company directly to verify if the email is legitimate.
