Welcome to the South Coast Artists
22nd Annual Open Studio Tour!

This summer we celebrate our 22nd year of the Tour, which happens on two separate weekends - July 19-20 and August 16-17. This year we’ve encouraged artists to explore the theme, Breath of Fresh Air, as they prepare for your visit. There are 75 artists ready to show you what they’ve created.

The Tour is a FREE event designed for the whole family. Studio visits encourage an open dialogue between you and the artist within their personal creative space. This connection is the key to developing a rapport with the art and artist. So, don’t be shy. Be curious. Ask questions.

Each studio and gallery is a unique experience. Plan a route that considers your interests. Sketch out your adventure on the newly updated SCA mobile app – South Coast Artists. The free app can be downloaded on smartphone or tablet. This digital feature lets you easily navigate the back roads, learn more about each artist on the Tour, and gives you access to the many businesses who support SCA with their sponsorship.

As president of SCA, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit the creative South Coast. Whether you are new to the area or a veteran SCA art lover, know that lifelong friendships are created along the trail. Be prepared for an unforgettable art adventure that you and your family will cherish.

Upcoming Community Events

Once again, we are excited to cosponsor with the Westport Cultural Council to help present a film during their summer film series. Admission is free but seats need to be reserved (limit of 4 per reservation) starting on July 1 via Eventbrite. The three events in July and August will feature guest speakers and Q&A sessions after the screenings, plenty of socializing, a spectacular setting at Weatherlow Farms ’s beautiful facility offering refreshments, beer and wine. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and films start at 7:00 p.m. for all dates.

Join us on August 13th for a screening of The Wonder and The Worry (98 min), by David Alexander Baker, which follows the lives and work of National Geographic photographers Chris Johns and his daughter, Louise. Chris made some of the most lasting images ever seen before rising through the ranks to become the only photographer to serve as editor in chief of the world renown magazine.

Mark your calendars for SCA's Annual Distinguished Speaker Series on November 5th at 6:00 p.m.. This year's program will feature Cody Hartley, Directory of the Georgia O’Keeffe Musuem who will present a fascinating program titled Georgia O’Keefe: What her example might teach us about how to live an intentional and creative life at Round the Bend Farm, Dartmouth, MA at 6:00 p.m. More info to come! 

South Coast Artists, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, educates, represents, and supports artists living and working in the coastal towns of Dartmouth and Westport, MA, and Tiverton and Little Compton, RI. Each summer SCA sponsors studio Tours and this year the 21st annual SCA Open Studio Tour takes place on the weekends of July 19-20 and August 16-17. SCA also delivers each year educational events and grants for emerging artists.
